We went to Manchester over the weekend to meet Gaelle and Steven’s new baby, Luca. I took my kit with me, but only managed one short run; it was very hot. There aren’t so many parks in that part of Manchester, so I ended up running around Alexandra Park twice to make up the distance – I could have run further and ended up at the Meadows, but I felt a bit anti-social (and we did have a big football match to prepare for).
The park is very leafy, with a lot of tree coverage, so my GPS kept losing its signal, but it seems as if I was going quite fast. I felt good – the heat seems to suit me on shorter runs, but not over longer distances.
Distance: 4.12 miles
Time: 37 minutes 8 seconds
Average Pace: 9.01
Best Pace: 5.53
Calories: 397
Now, calories. I only expended 397 calories during this run, but I think I probably consumed about 8,000 over the course of the weekend! Mmmmm…we had a curry on Friday night, delicious bread and cheese at lunch time on Saturday, and then we had to have a consolation barbeque after the football. I had been to our lovely local-ish sausage shop and bought some special London meat treats and I marinated some chicken too. Gaelle had made the most delicious chocolate cake ever (I think it’s because she is French; it’s in her blood) which we had with some ice cream. On Sunday, we went to the park and had a picnic. We did play petanque, but I don’t think I can class that as exercise!
