…by a squirrel!
Off we went, bright and early, and did a couple of circuits of the little park, met a few dogs and battled headlong into the wind. Hector was in a funny old mood and got a bit grumpy when I didn’t stop at the play area straight away but the deal is that we run first (not that he understands that). We then crossed over and went into the bigger park where I did a circuit – with a pause to pick a few blackberries – and, as we were about to do another circuit Hector started crying, which I worked out was because he wanted to go up the hill where we then bumped into his best friend and her mum (I wonder if he had already spotted them…) This particular diversion meant a stumble down the rough path, or rather track, that I usually avoid, and then back into park number one.
This time I did stop at the play area and Hector got to do his current favourite thing which is to climb up the steps to the slide and kick leaves. I have looked into what that tree is with the ‘helicopter’ seeds and it seems it’s a Common Lime. As we kicked the lovely yellow leaves around a squirrel came towards us and we looked on happily, but it got closer and closer, to the point where I scooped Hector up quickly and started backing away from it. It didn’t stop. After a while I was stamping my feet in an attempt to scare it off, but still it advanced towards us! Eventually I ran away from it, yes, I ran away from a squirrel but it had an evil look in its eye and, as we approached the running buggy, I noticed it was actually on the buggy, probably looking for baby snacks. They know what they’re doing!

Kind of slow, but it was incredibly windy and I had a ‘niggle’ in my right knee and also in my left thigh. Odd.

Squirrels can be amazzingly determined. I once watched one come in the house, knock an apple out of the bowl and nudge it across the floor.
Glad we got the seeds sorted. Lime tree seeds remind me of fly ball governors on old steam engines
P.S Like the blackberry

Squirrels have become rather bolshy animals. A friend of mine was scared out of the park when two of the beasts started circling him like red indians.
I thought it was highly amusing but then it was his croissant they were after and not mine.

They are so cheeky aren’t they? I was with a friend in the park a while ago and she bent down with her hand out and the pesky creature nipped her finger. I reckon they would steal the baby snack out of a baby’s hand!
